I think it was late 80's when I played an airplane game where you had a biplane and had to accomplish some different scenarios e.g. shooting motorcycles and refuel with a zeppelin.

You chose the task by flying to it on a map and the action happened as a 2D-sidescroller with a possible additional split view from above.

I've tried to search for this game every now and then for years but haven't come up with anything. Maybe some smart gamer knows the game I'm talking about.

Is it Flightmare? (Thanks Moby games)

I know that game! - played it on my old CGA IBM XT. I always crashed into the ground - it ran too fast for me :(

I'm thinking the name was something like "nightmare" but googling that hasn't helped much.

I think it had a sort of post-apocalyptic mad-max style setting, though that really only came through some text on an intro screen IIRC.

Yes, that's it! Thank you. (Hmm, it sure looks ugly now, but all those warm memories...) – Jawa Mar 4 at 8:03

Did you try abandonware sites like Abandonia? There you can search for simulators in that timespan.

Yes, but unfortunately couldn't find it. I think Wings of Fury is the closest match - only missing the map, motorcycles and the zeppelin... – Jawa Mar 3 at 15:15
